Dragon Champion (actually, I think Dragon Outcast is better, but it's the third in the series of 6, #4 getting released this December!)

Dragoncharm is also amazing, but incredibly hard to find (it's been out of print for over 12 years). First in a trilogy, and there's a sequel trilogy that takes place a million years later (there's even at least one character who appears in both, how's that for longevity?).

The Vlad Taltos novels are also great. They're about a normal guy building up an undercity empire (prostitutes, gambling, loan sharks) in another country (Dragaera is populated by Dragaerans who are taller and live 10 times longer than Easterners (and they both call themselves humans); there's two other races as well, but they show up very briefly if at all).

the pendragon series is very good. they have like 8 books for it and they are making more. i cant wait for the next one to come out!
