@apollo- yeah, but I'm only in eigth grade and they want me to do stuff other than work on the computer. Even though I make money for myself, something I think parents should be happy about...

I disagree. My little brother makes well into the six figures working as a Java programmer, so the money is there if you have the skills.

And the future enlies in technology, so whatever tech jobs are not outsourced to India should pay well. (I'd think)

I agree with you Skuld, the amount of jobs in tech can only rise...

And I also get a similar thing over here, Parents only care that I get my homework done, they dont seem to be overly interested in me making money from games...

Yeah, mine are kind of like "pursue what you want, but don't spend all your time on the computer". Hard to pursue digital media development without a computer.

I read tutorials but at the same time I just kind of teach myself. I like to research and practice, kind of experiment. I like to experiment because it gives me a chance to learn from my mistakes. Thats the best way to learn.

Yeah, experimenting is probably the best way to learn, but I get rather impatient with things that don't work right.
