GameGum and ToonGum Referral Contest 1

So here it is, our first contest!  Winners come away with money and GumPoints!  We will keep the rules and premise simple (with a few bonus surprises!).

Update 5/1/2007: We will be checking all IP addresses of referred users at the end of the contest from those people who are eligible to win and any fraudulent behavior will disqualify the respective user.  We will not be requiring email confirmation anymore now that this policy is in place.

The "GameGum and ToonGum Referral Contest 1"

This contest will begin at Tuesday, May 1st, 2007 at 12:00 AM and run for two weeks, ending on Tuesday May 15th, 2007 at 12:00 AM.

The rules go as follows.  During the two weeks users invite as many friends as possible using their custom referral link or by using the built in referral form.  At the end of the week the user who has successfully gotten the most users to sign up will be the winner.  Second most will earn second place, and so on.

Some warnings.  We do not encourage spamming (or paying users) on other websites, but rather other more creative uses such as placing their link in their signature.  We do encourage our users to warn others that it is in fact a referral link, and that they will gain GumPoints for using it.  We will be verifying email addresses for validity to a certain extent, and hope our users will play cleanly.

The Prizes

• 1st Place: $100 and 1,000 GumPoints
• 2nd Place: $50 and 750 GumPoints
• 3rd Place: 500 GumPoints
• 4th Place 300 GumPoints
• 5rd Place 200 GumPoints

Finally, there are two bonus cash prizes.

The First Bonus Prize: $50 will go to the user who refers the most active new member.  This is measured in GumPoint of course.  In other words, if you refer someone during the week of the contest and they accrue the highest amount of GumPoints of any other referred member, you will win $100.

The Second Bonus Prize: $50 will go to any member who signs up during the week of the contest and earns the highest amount of GumPoints.  This person may or may not be referred by another user.  We are setting a minimum of 25 GumPoints to be eligible for this prize, to make sure it is going towards good use.

For these last two bonus prizes we will be monitoring quality.  If posts or comments are made that are of poor or spam-like quality we will delete them which will deduct the GumPoints.  That person will receive a warning, and after two warnings they will be banned if necessary.  We don't foresee our wonderful users requiring this, and we hope all goes well during the competition.

So, we will see you all on the 15th and be announcing the results as it goes including the winners at the end.  Cash prizes will be worked out between the winners and us through email, and we will attempt to meet every persons need in terms of payment methods.  Good luck!
