A Splattering of Version 4 Stuff

Over the past few weeks I have been pretty silent on version 4, mostly because I figured it was tiring hearing about something over and over but never seeing anything, and thats probably mostly true. Unfortunately, despite ongoing game submissions, polls, and news posts, version 4 is the only really exciting thing going on with GameGum.
Now that most major features have been implemented, we are into the final touches and small features phase, not quite as exciting but important nonetheless.
Some new icons have been implemented, the forum now has striped tables everywhere, and the new game list has begun its bugfixing stage. I threw in sIFR really quickly, but found it caused more problems that it was worth in the long run. I also tried out some fancy lightbox tricks, but despite some new advances, lightbox still needs work before it can truly function properly with flash, so that will wait.
The featured games algorithm has been reworked and is far better now, ensuring that only new and popular games are displayed. The Game Stats section has also been redone to ensure fresh games. Hmm what else... a new "Random Game" button was added into the footer (tastefully, I hope) for a little fun. Recent Threads and Recent Users are now shown on the home page as well. Theres a "Stats" box with GameGum details, but it may not make it into the final version.
There are still quite a few pages that need some polish, but others are looking fantastic. The new profile pages are great, and the new games pages display all of the information beautifully and functionally as well. The friends page is coming along, and will display friends' "Recent Posts", "Recent Comments", and "Recent Submissions" and more.
So there you have it, a grab-bag of some of the new stuff that has been done recently. Everyday it's making progress, but as has been stated before, don't expect it to launch within a month, possibly two (hopefully not). More on the launch later.
